Open meeting to members of the SECR and other religious studies scholars
in Spain and all over the world. The general purpose of the conference
is to make a common reflection on the subject "fear and religion" in the
different possible aspects and particularly relating to the limits of the
humane (death, end of the times, millennium and millennarianism, the great
change).
1) IDENTITY, FEAR AND RELIGION
Orientative subjects: Psychological and sociological implications of
the fear and the responses of the different religions.
2) MILLENNIUM AND FEAR
Orientative subjects: Millennarianism and fear in the different religions.
The fear to the end of the times in past and present. Fear in the contemporary
millennarianist movements (new age and new religious movements).
3) FEAR AND DEATH
Orientative subjects: Fear to the death and religion in past and present.
Fear to the end of life and fear to the end of the times.
4) FEAR OF THE RELIGION, FEAR OF THE RELIGIONS
Orientative subjects: Fear of belief and unbelief. Modernity, postmodernity
and fear of the religion. Fear of religious diversity (and violent responses
in past and present).
