The Council of Tenerife, in awareness of the complexity of the aims proposed by CIBITEN (Centre of Biomedical Research of Tenerife), has created the Canarian Foundation for Advancements in Biomedicine and Biotechnology aimed to assist the University of La Laguna (ULL) in overcoming the challenges associated with the successful culmination of the project.
Its activities include: establishing contacts and motivating different political and institutional agents such as the Spanish Department of Science and Innovation, Department of Health, Superior Advisory Service of Scientific Investigations (CSIC), European Commission and the Canarian Government; obtaining the authorisations, financial backing, agreements and procedures which will facilitate the development of CIBITEN; contributing towards the designing of the future centre, from its infrastructure to its organisation as well as supporting its plans to recruit external scientists; initiating and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with worldwide leading universities such as Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology or the Max Planck Institute; overall, aiming to eliminate obstacles and resistances which the project may present during each phase.
