The Social Council is the nexus between the university and the rest of society whose main functions are to deal with economic issues and manage the university. Other tasks include ensuring tue quality of university services, securing subsides from public resources and implementing strategies to obtain resources that efficently develop education and research.

Three fifths of the ULL Social Council is composed of representatives of Canarian social interests, with the participation of the Canarian Government, Parliament, Cabildos, trade unions, business associations and parent’s associations. The other two fifths come from the university itself, through the representation of the its Board of Directors, which is made up of the Rector, the Comptroller and the Registrar, who are members by right of their office, as well as four members of the teaching staff, four students and a representative of the administrative and service personnel.
