Introduction

The University of La Laguna Research Ethics Committee (CEI) was created by the Board of Directors on April 2, 2001.

In general terms, the main occupation of the committee is to debate and report on ethical problems that arise from the scientific research carried out in the University of La Laguna. More specifically, the committee carries out the following functions:

- Study and report on the protocols of research projects carried out in a ULL centre that use people, organic samples, personal data that can be considered confidential, live animals or animal samples from an ethical standpoint and based on current legislation. It will also analyse any other research project that can directly affect the basic rights of people or interests linked to the defence and protection of the environment.

- Report on articles that will be published by members of the university, at the request of the researchers.

The committee operates within the framework of its internal regulations and all of the information that it receives or issues is strictly confidential.
