1. Demonstrate an understanding of the relevant of STCW1995/2010 English requirements to all seafarers: indicate awareness of and preference for language learning techniques; assess own language learning needs.
2. Discuss and confirm travel arrangements for joining ship; make and confirm accommodation reservations; describe stages in preparing for sea and for arrival in port.
3. Describe procedures at international airports; demonstrate understanding of the cultural norms of different nationalities; describe incidents that occur on shore and on board; write reports of incidents on board.

Al ser una asignatura instrumental, donde la lengua inglesa es una herramienta de trabajo, la mayoría de los temas enumerados en el apartado anterior se desarrollarán en inglés. Se hará especial hincapié en las técnicas de expresión oral y escrita: exposiciones, redacción de informes, situaciones profesionales. Se espera del alumnado un nivel inicial igual o superior al B1 conforme al Marco Común Europeo de Referencia de Lenguas (MCERL).
