2. The Image of the Canaries in the Early English Sources. Renaissance Travel Writing (general characteristics). Thomas Nichols' and Edmund Scory's texts. Mount Teide as seen by the English Sources.
3. The 18th Century Sources: The Enlightenment. Travel Writing during the Enlightenment (general characteristics). J. Edens' and George Glas' texts on the Canary Islands.
4. The 19th Century and the First Third of the 20th. Women travellers: Olivia Stone, Elzabeth Murray, Marianne North, Margaret D'Este. The Birth of Tourism.
5. From the Spanish Civil War to Nowadays. The image of the Canary Islands in some British texts. Agatha Christie's short stories on the Canaries and David Lodge's Therapy.
Actividades a desarrollar en otro idioma
La asignatura se impartirá en inglés. Sin embargo, dado el carácter de la misma, parte del material de lectura puede estar escrito en castellano, por lo que se recomienda tener un nivel de competencia en español satisfactorio (B1 en lectura).
