Elle atteint 50 cm de hauteur et poss\u00e8de des tiges dens\u00e9ment velues. Les feuilles basales, p\u00e9tiol\u00e9es et cordiformes, \u00e0 bords dent\u00e9s, sont tomenteuses, vertes sur la face sup\u00e9rieure et blanches sur la face inf\u00e9rieure. Les feuilles caulinaires, sessiles et embrassantes (amplexicaules), sont ovales-cord\u00e9es et \u00e0 apex aigu. Les fleurs sont dispos\u00e9es en capitules radi\u00e9s, avec des fleurons ligul\u00e9s pourpres (\u00e0 l&#039;ext\u00e9rieur) et des fleurons tubulaires jaunes (au centre). Ses fruits sont munis d&#039;aigrettes pour leur diss\u00e9mination par le vent. Pour la distinguer de *Pericallis echinata*, il faut noter que cette derni\u00e8re pr\u00e9sente des glandes noires sur l&#039;involucre (bract\u00e9es tapissant le r\u00e9ceptacle des capitules).
