Auditorium

LEARN ABOUT OUR HISTORY

The University of La Laguna's Auditorium is a multipurpose space designed to host academic events, conferences, and performances.

It is one of the main elements of the ULL Central Building, which began to be built in the mid-1930s and was not completed until 1962. Its design was the responsibility of the architects José Enrique Marrero Regalado and Domingo Pisaca, although it was the latter's work that would prove fundamental in shaping the final appearance of the Auditorium.

Equipped with exceptional acoustics for live vocals, another of its highlights is the pictorial decoration of its roof, the work of Mariano de Cossio, which depicts allegories of the different branches of university knowledge.

During its years of activity, the most important musicians and actors from the regional and national scene have graced its stage, making the University of La Laguna Auditorium one of Tenerife's leading venues.

In 2001, the building showed severe signs of deterioration due to dampness, which led to its closure and restoration. After several delays, the renovation project, designed by architect Pedro Domínguez-Anadón, began in 2007 and was completed in late 2009, when it reopened to the public.
