SPSS

Category: Information management and analysisn

Description:
SPSS
SPSS is one of the most well-known quantitative data analysis software programs in the field of Social Sciences, without requiring extensive knowledge of its syntax. Among its benefits, SPSS presents an intuitive and simple navigation and interface for preparing and analyzing data. Data management is simplified by importing, cleaning, and manipulating data within its analytical environment. It enables the implementation of descriptive statistics, Bayesian statistics, contingency tables, mean comparisons, general linear, generalized, and mixed models, correlation analysis, regression, classification, nonparametric tests, among other techniques for predicting trends and behavioral patterns in data. SPSS also allows results to be displayed in graphs, statistical tables, and customized tables to facilitate understanding of the information and extracting results from the data. Pre-designed extensions or custom R or Python scripts can be integrated to extend the SPSS syntax and data visualization. Faculty and students at the University of La Laguna can access this tool through their virtual desktop.

Example:
A professor in the Research Methods and Diagnostics department at the University of La Laguna uses SPSS analysis software via virtual desktops to enable students to complete practical activities for her course. A tutor for thesis and master's thesis encourages students to use SPSS via the virtual desktop to analyze quantitative data based on the results of their own research questionnaire.
