Overview

This micro-credential provides students with the knowledge and technical skills necessary to rigorously interpret, evaluate, and apply the Canary Islands Investment Reserve (RIC) from a professional perspective appropriate to MECES Level 2. It covers its legal and economic foundation, the beneficiaries, the allocation and implementation criteria—including investments and job creation—as well as the requirements, deadlines, accounting obligations, and consequences of non-compliance. All of this is addressed through the analysis of real-world scenarios, geared towards informed decision-making in the fiscal and business fields.

Goals

To train students to interpret, apply and rigorously evaluate the Canary Islands Investment Reserve (RIC), integrating regulatory, accounting and tax knowledge that allows them to base tax planning decisions in real business contexts.

Access requirements

  • No prior university degree is required. Students who meet the requirements will be eligible to apply. at least one of the following requirements:
  • To hold the title of High school diploma or equivalent
  • Having a Higher Vocational Training qualification, preferably in the fields of administration, management, commerce, finance or similar.
  • Accredit minimum of two years' professional experience in administrative support tasks, accounting, invoicing, tax management, grant management or similar functions
  • Having overcome other microcredentials within the scope of the REF or basic taxation taught by the ULL, the ULPGC or other accredited entities.

Academic program

Contents

The content is organized into blocks that allow for a progressive understanding of all phases of RIC application, from its fundamentals to its tax and accounting implications:

Block 1. Foundations, subjects and endowment of the RIC

  • Legal and economic foundations of the RIC; beneficiary subjects; determination of eligible benefits and income; technical calculation of the endowment in accordance with current regulations.

Block 2. Materialization of the RIC in professional practice

  • Forms of materialization foreseen in Law 19/1994; material and immaterial investments; job creation; execution and commissioning deadlines; actions linked to sustainability and the environment.

Block 3. Regulatory application, compatibilities and control

  • Essential regulatory requirements; compatibility with other tax incentives; regularization for non-compliance; documentary and supporting obligations; accounting and tax treatment of the RIC.

Methodology and activities

The training activities to be carried out during the delivery of the micro-credential will be the following:

  • Theoretical classes: expository, explanatory or demonstration sessions of the contents and knowledge.
  • Practical classes: sessions of practical application of the content developed in the theoretical classes, through the resolution of exercises, problems or theoretical-practical scenarios.
  • Seminars, workshops, or other complementary activities (discussion forums, simulations, etc.): monographic sessions that encourage student participation. These are supervised by the course instructors.
  • Independent work: independent and self-regulated activity of the student based on the documentation and guidelines proposed in the subject, preparation of classes and exams, preparation of final reports, internship reports…
  • Tutoring (individual, group…): activity in which the teaching staff attends to, facilitates and guides one or more students in the training process.
  • Assessment: continuous assessment tests and final exams. Tests may be in person or online, and may be written, oral, or consist of practical exercises.

All activities will be conducted virtually, combining synchronous and asynchronous sessions on the institutional virtual campus.

Regarding the way to organize the teaching to achieve the objectives set out in the micro-credential, the organizational modality summarized below will be followed:

  • Lectures/expository method: presentation or explanation by the teaching staff.
  • Seminars: completing exercises, solving problems or practical cases, others.
  • Individual work: individual preparation of assignments/projects/reports, portfolio, …
  • Personal study: preparation for tests, exams, etc.
  • Assessment: written tests, oral tests, practical tests…
  • Tutoring: instruction period in which teachers and students interact with the aim of reviewing and discussing materials and topics presented in class.

Evaluation criteria

The micro-credential will have a continuous evaluation system based on the following tests:

  • Objective tests. Test-type questionnaires (true/false, multiple choice, fill in the blank, ordering, etc.)
  • Short answer tests
  • Case studies, exercises, and problems
  • Attendance, participation or attitude
  • Written works and reports

All assessments will be conducted entirely online, using automated quizzes, guided practical exercises, forums, and submissions on the institutional campus. The weighting of each type of assessment will be detailed in the course syllabus at the beginning of the course.
