Overview
This micro-credential trains professionals capable of leading international distribution and sales strategies for films, integrating marketing, circulation, and positioning in different markets. It provides training in project promotion, collaboration with sales agencies, distributors, and festivals, and the development of commercial exploitation plans. Furthermore, it strengthens the internationalization of Canarian cinema, improves employability in distribution and marketing, and positions the University of La Laguna as a leader in specialized training in film distribution, sales, and marketing.
- To train professionals capable of leading international distribution and sales strategies for cinematographic works, understanding the relationship between marketing, circulation and strategic positioning in different markets.
- To train students in audiovisual marketing and project promotion, adapting campaigns to national and international platforms, festivals, markets and exhibition circuits.
- Develop skills in collaborating with sales agencies, distributors and festivals, as well as in developing commercial exploitation plans and circulation strategies.
- To strengthen the internationalization of Canarian cinema, contributing to the presence of local works in international festivals, markets and exhibition circuits, and strengthening the cultural and creative fabric of the Canary Islands.
- Strengthen the employability of graduates in the areas of distribution, marketing and sales, integrating them into production companies, agencies, festivals and film projects of global scope.
- To position the ULL as an academic benchmark in specialized training in distribution, sales and marketing of cinematographic works.
A university degree is not required to access this micro-credential. However, students wishing to access it must meet the following access requirements:
- Be between 25 and 64 years of age at the start date of training.
- Have at least a High School Diploma or equivalent professional certificate.
- Have a National Identity Document or equivalent document that proves residence permit in Spain, at least during the period in which the microcredential is developed.

- Introduction to film distribution
Functions and agents of film distribution. Differences between national and international distribution. Relationship between production, distribution, and sales in the audiovisual value chain. - International sales and sales agencies
The role of the international sales agent. Representation models, sales contracts, and commissions. The relationship between producer, sales agent, and distributor. Analysis of sales strategies according to the type of work and target market. - Festivals, premieres and international positioning
The role of film festivals in a film's release strategy. Premiere strategies, festival selection, and international tour planning. The impact of the premiere on subsequent sales and distribution. - Markets and professional forums
How the main international film markets operate. Professional dynamics, business objectives, and networking opportunities. Preparation of materials and strategies for market presence. - Film marketing
Basic marketing tools applied to film. Design of promotional materials (trailer, poster, sales dossier). Definition of the target audience and positioning of the work in the international market. - Commercial exploitation strategies
Exploitation models in theaters, digital platforms, and other circuits. Exploitation windows and adaptation of the commercial strategy to different territories. Evaluation of the commercial potential of a film.
- Theoretical classes: expository, explanatory or demonstration sessions of the contents and knowledge.
- Seminars, workshops, or other complementary activities (discussion forums, simulations, etc.): monographic sessions that encourage student participation. These are supervised by the course instructors.
- Work: preparation of a study, essay, work… proposed in the subject, either individually or in a group following established guidelines.
- Independent work: independent and self-regulated activity of the student based on the documentation and guidelines proposed in the subject, preparation of classes and exams, preparation of final reports, internship reports…
- Presentations, debates and defenses of works and projects: activity through which students present works, exercises, projects… based on established criteria, demonstrating sufficiency and maturity in the acquisition of the planned competencies.
- Assessment: continuous assessment tests and final exams. Tests may be in person or online, and may be written, oral, or consist of practical exercises.
- Attendance, participation or attitude in teaching activities, seminars, tutorials, etc.: monitoring student attendance and participation in teaching activities, carrying out activities during teaching sessions.
- Written works, memoirs, internship reports, and projects: a document prepared on a topic or activity carried out, following the instructions established by the teaching staff.
- Oral presentation and defense of topics, assignments, etc.: oral presentation on a topic related to the micro-credential content or on the results of an assignment, exercise, or project, followed by discussion with the faculty. This can be done individually or in a group.

The training will take place from Monday to Friday, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Additionally, if you are unable to attend in person for a justified reason, you may complete the training online.

Teaching staff
Founder and director of the international film sales boutique Bendita Film Sales. Previously, he was manager of the Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster. He holds a Law degree and a Master's degree in Film Industry Management from the Carlos III University of Madrid.
Professor in the area of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the ULL. His research focuses on the analysis of contemporary audiovisual media, film and the relationships between visual culture, media and emerging technologies.
