Microcredential in AI for the development of academic activities

Overview

This degree program is justified by the need to train professionals who can make appropriate use of artificial intelligence for academic activities. It aligns with the objectives of the Spanish Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation (EECTI) 2021-2027, which aims to position science and innovation as central pillars for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. Furthermore, it addresses the needs of the Canary Islands labor market, characterized by economic and social disparities due to its status as an outermost region, and the demand for highly qualified professionals who can enhance the region's economic competitiveness and sustainable development.

Goals

  • Understanding what Artificial Intelligence is, how it works, how it can be applied to personal learning, and what its technical limitations are.
  • To know and learn to use various Artificial Intelligence tools applied to the educational field, taking into account their different classifications and typologies.
  • To critically reflect on the ethical aspects of Artificial Intelligence, as well as its potential and limitations in relation to the integral development of people and learning processes.

Access requirements

Admission will be granted in order of registration on the micro-credential until the maximum number of students is reached.

Methodology and activities

Regarding the way in which teaching is organized to achieve the objectives set out in the degree, the organizational modality summarized below will be followed:

  • Seminars: completing exercises, solving problems or practical cases, others.
  • Individual work: individual preparation of assignments/projects/reports, portfolio, …
  • Personal study: preparation for tests, exams, etc.
  • Assessment: written tests, oral tests, practical tests, …
  • Tutoring: instruction period in which teachers and students interact with the aim of reviewing and discussing materials and topics presented in class.

Evaluation criteria

The subjects of the degree will have an assessment system (AS) based on the following assessment tests:
● Objective tests (The questions asked will be adapted at the discretion of the
(teachers who teach the subjects): are measurement instruments that allow evaluation
Knowledge, skills, performance, aptitudes, etc. The answers are closed and objectivity is favored when correcting them.
● Short-answer or brief tests: a type of objective test in which the
Students do not elaborate in their response, instead providing the specific information requested.
● Development tests, long answer: students must develop, relate,
to organize and present the knowledge they have on a topic in order to develop a
extensive answer.
● Attendance, participation or attitude in training activities, seminars, tutorials, etc.: monitoring of student attendance and participation in teaching activities,
carrying out activities during the teaching sessions.
