Access and admission

Access

Summary:

They will be able to access studies leading to obtaining their own degrees

of grade level students who meet the requirements for the

access to official university undergraduate studies in accordance with the provisions of applicable regulations.

If the student does not meet the access requirements for official undergraduate degrees, the academic director of the degree may request the Vice-Rectorate responsible for managing official degrees to authorize such access, if any of the following situations occur:

a) Students who can demonstrate at least one year of work experience in the field of the degree they wish to pursue.

b) Students who have passed a specific test designed by the academic management of the degree, in cases where these types of tests have been provided, in which the student demonstrates that they possess the basic knowledge to be able to successfully complete the degree, in the degree application report.

c) Those who can prove they hold a foreign degree equivalent to the one required for Spanish students will also have access to studies leading to ULL's own undergraduate degrees. For this purpose, recognition of said degree is not required, but rather prior verification that it qualifies in the country that issued it for access to undergraduate studies.

Detail:

Those who meet the following requirements will be able to access the studies and obtain the Master's degree:

  1. a) Be in possession of an official university degree, another expressly declared equivalent or an official university degree obtained in accordance with university education systems prior to that established in Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29 (BOE No. 260, of October 30).
  2. b) Hold a bachelor's degree from the ULL, or equivalent from another university, with a minimum duration of 120 ECTS credits. In this case, the student may enroll in master's studies but will not receive the degree. If the student passes the assessment for all subjects of the degree, they may apply for a Specific Training Certificate.
  3. c) Proof of having earned at least 180 ECTS credits corresponding to official undergraduate studies. In this case, the student must have completed their undergraduate studies before applying for a master's degree. If the student does not complete their official undergraduate studies and applies for a master's degree, they will obtain a Specific Training Certificate.
  4. d) Those who can demonstrate professional experience in the field of activities related to the degree's own qualification of at least two years. In this case, the student may access the master's degree but will not obtain the qualification. If the student passes the assessment for all the subjects of the degree, they may apply for the Specific Training Certificate. The Vice-Rector's Office responsible for specific qualifications will verify the professional experience of these students and authorize their admission.
  5. As a general rule, those who meet the following requirements will be able to access the studies and obtain the Diploma of Specialization, University Expert, or Specific Training Certificate:
  6. a) Those established in the previous section for master's degrees.
  7. b) Those who pass a specific entrance exam, for which the director of the university's own degree will be responsible, in which the student will demonstrate that they possess the basic knowledge necessary to successfully complete the university's own degree. The academic director must have included this access system in the application form for the degree and will inform the responsible Vice-Rectorate of the students who have passed this exam in order for them to be admitted.
  8. Those who can prove they hold a recognized foreign higher education degree or one equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish undergraduate degree will also have access to studies leading to ULL's own postgraduate degrees. For this purpose, recognition of said degree is not required, but prior verification that it qualifies in the country of issue for access to postgraduate studies.
  9. In cases where students do not meet the entry requirements but still wish to pursue the course, they may do so. However, upon completion, they will not receive a university degree. Instead, they will receive a certificate of attendance and completion of a training course detailing the subject matter, content, and hours completed. This certificate will be issued by the Vice-Rector's Office responsible for managing university-specific degrees.
  10. Likewise, students who only wish to take one or more subjects from a university-specific degree will be admitted, provided there are available places. In these cases, students will receive a certificate of attendance and achievement issued by the Vice-Rector's Office responsible for managing university-specific degrees for each subject taken.

Student Admission

As established in Article 7 of the University of La Laguna's Regulations for University-Specific Degrees, the admission process will be conducted through applications from interested parties, which will be processed by the ULL unit responsible for managing university-specific degrees. This unit will be responsible for verifying that applicants meet the admission requirements. Students who meet the corresponding requirements may access any university-specific degree at the undergraduate level, subject to admission by the Academic Committee of the degree.

The Academic Committee of the degree will assess the CV of pre-registered students to ensure that they are appropriately aligned with the academic and professional profile required for the University Diploma in Gastronomy and Food. To this end, the Academic Committee may conduct a personal interview with the pre-registered applicant and, where appropriate, may require a written test of theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of knowledge involved. The structure and content of the test will be approved by the Academic Committee of the degree itself, which will also be responsible for marking it, although it may delegate, if necessary, the preparation and marking of these entrance tests. The format, content, and evaluation criteria of the entrance tests will be made public well in advance of their implementation. In these cases, established in section 1, letter b) of article 6 of the Regulations for University of La Laguna's Own Degrees, the academic management of the Degree must communicate the results of the tests carried out to the ULL unit in charge of managing the own degrees.

Student scoring

If there are more pre-registered applicants who meet the admission requirements than places offered, the Academic Committee will be responsible for reviewing the admissions profile and merits contained in each candidate's file and CV, as well as evaluating the relevance of the CV and making the selection.

The scale to be used will be the following, always based on the principles of equality, merit and ability:

A) Academic Training: From 1 to 7 points

  • Record of the degree by which access is granted (From 1 to 4 points): The average resulting from assigning the following values to the grades obtained by the student in the studies that qualify him/her for access to the Degree will be calculated:
  • Approved 1 point
  • Notable: 2 points
  • Outstanding: 3 points
  • First Class Honors: 4 points
  • Qualifications related to the content and competencies of the Degree (Maximum 3 points):

Complete affinity: 3 points are added

(University degrees in Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Automatic Electronics Engineering, Nautical and Maritime Transport Engineering, and Marine Technologies, as well as other related degrees from the ULL or other universities)

Partial affinity: up to 2 points are added

Other university degrees partially related to the contents taught in the Degree.

  • 5 years or older: 3 points
  • Between 2 and 5 years: 2 points
  • Less than 2 years: 1 point

Maximum total score: 10 points

In the event of a tie between candidates, after applying the criteria specified in the previous sections, A and B, those students with the same score must take a specific entrance test. The grade obtained in said test will determine the order of priority of each applicant on the final list of candidates.

A personal interview may be conducted with pre-registered applicants and, where appropriate, may require them to complete a written test of theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas involved. This test will demonstrate that they possess the basic knowledge necessary to successfully complete the degree.

The academic committee will be responsible for preparing and evaluating this entrance exam, or for appointing a delegated committee to perform these functions in its absence.

This Own Master's Degree, along with the three Expert titles, aim to promote the promotion of Vocational Training students related to the contents of the Degree, so that in such cases it will be required accredited professional experience of at least five years in the areas related to the contents of the Degree and be over forty years old for admission to both the Master's and the corresponding Experts.
