Basic and General Competencies

One of the objectives of the Master's Degree in Continuing Education in Tax and Accounting Consulting is to contribute to lifelong learning from a university perspective. In this regard, the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) constitutes a benchmark for promoting lifelong learning. In line with this framework, this postgraduate degree guarantees, as a minimum, the following knowledge, skills, and competencies, corresponding to EQF level 7:

1. That students possess and understand highly specialized knowledge, some of it at the forefront of a specific field of work or study, which lays the foundation for original thinking or research.
2. That students acquire critical awareness of knowledge issues in a specific field and at the point of articulation between different fields.
3. That students develop specialized skills for problem-solving in research or innovation, with a view to developing new knowledge and procedures, and integrating knowledge in various fields.
4. Students should be able to manage and transform complex and unpredictable work or study contexts that require new strategic approaches.
5. That students are able to assume responsibilities regarding the development of knowledge and/or professional practices and the review of the strategic performance of teams.

Specific competencies

The fundamental objective of the Master's Degree in Continuing Education in Tax and Accounting Consulting is to provide students with an adequate understanding of the economic and financial reality of businesses, as well as a mastery of both the substantive and formal aspects of the Spanish tax system, as well as the specifics of the Canary Islands tax system. To this end, a thorough and rigorous analysis of the tax system is undertaken, focusing on the characteristics, regulation, and management of each tax, as well as the accounting system, developing real-life situations and cases from a practical perspective.
In accordance with the above approach, this training project has proposed the following specific skills that students must acquire:

1. Provide appropriate accounting treatment for the company's economic and financial problems, regardless of its size and/or sector.

2. Prepare and analyze financial statements to provide relevant information to various economic agents interested in understanding the financial situation and business results.

3. Understand the tax legal system, the substantive elements of taxes, and the procedural aspects of this matter.

4. Facilitate the analysis of each tax figure, focusing on its characteristics, nature, taxable event, taxpayer, among other aspects, as well as its management.

5. To deepen our understanding of the specific features of the Canary Islands Tax System, taking into account all the aspects that have been incorporated in recent years.

6. Enable a detailed analysis of the company's financial structure, addressing all issues related to its own sources of financing, with special mention of the Canary Islands Investment Reserve (RIC).

7. Know real situations and cases that allow you to come into contact with reality and take immediate action.

8. Ability to analyze and synthesize, enabling you to address complex problems, as well as foster creative processes and the generation of alternatives.
