The Master's Degree in Thanatology, online (blended) modality, emerged in 2002, fundamentally from the integration of two large converging blocks: the possibility of training at the highest level in the professional curriculum of this great training gap surrounding human death and dying and care at the end of life and the adaptation of the teaching-learning strategies necessary and essential for the acquisition of said training in what refers to death and dying, in relation to the acquisition of adequate knowledge, attitudes and aptitudes.
As a result of the convergence of both interests, daily online tutoring options are established, complemented by in-person workshops grouped into a short but intensive period. This allows students to travel from different backgrounds and ensures their training opportunities. This alternative approach addresses some, but not all, of the challenges.
We are aware that knowledge about death and dying involves various dimensions, present to a greater or lesser degree in all cultural, social, biological, psychological, emotional and moral content, where the student is both the subject and object of knowledge, and makes use of this information to explain the surrounding social world, and which is built from alternatives and possibilities constructed from face-to-face training, supervised personal work and the completion of external internships in Health Centers.
