Competencies

Basic Competencies

According to Royal Decree 861/2010, of July 2, which modifies Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29, which establishes the organization of official university education, the following basic competencies will be guaranteed, as a minimum, in the case of the Master's degree, and those others that appear in the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education, MECES:
1. Possess and understand knowledge that provides a basis or opportunity for originality in the development and/or application of ideas, often in a research context.
2. That students know how to apply the knowledge acquired and their problem-solving skills in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their area of study.
3. Students should be able to integrate knowledge and address the complexity of making judgments based on information that, while incomplete or limited, includes reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities associated with the application of their knowledge and judgments.
4. Students should be able to communicate their conclusions—and the knowledge and underlying reasons that support them—to specialized and non-specialized audiences in a clear and unambiguous manner.
5. That students possess the learning skills that allow them to continue studying in a manner that will be largely self-directed or autonomous.

General Competencies

G1. Postgraduate training and specialization in Urban Planning Law, with particular attention to the regulations specific to the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
G2. Specialized theoretical and practical teaching of the institutions of Urban Planning Law, with attention to the values and balances that must be considered in the management of land as a natural resource, in the connection between land and territory and human activities, and, in particular, in the creation of cities.
G3. The acquisition of one's own criteria when addressing problems of Urban Planning Law, taking into account the complexity, variability and multidisciplinary nature of urban planning matters.
G4. Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Specific competencies

E1 Master the legal status of real estate property, as well as the techniques of urban classification, categorization and qualification.

E2 Analyze, understand, be able to participate in, apply and challenge the different territorial and urban planning instruments.

E3 Master the techniques of urban equidistribution, as well as the ability to understand and participate in the instruments that make it possible, with special attention to reparcelling.

E4 Develop, participate, analyze and apply the different urban management instruments.

E5 Participate and provide legal advice in the processes of promoting urban development actions, as well as in the control of their legality.

E6 Master and know how to apply the techniques of preventive and repressive control of land use and construction.

E7 Prepare or provide legal advice on the preparation of documents with urban planning content.
