The conservator-restorer is a professional who must have the training, knowledge, skills, experience and understanding to carry out the objective of preserving cultural assets for the future, according to the guidelines set by their professional code of ethics.
Therefore, the teaching of conservation-restoration must be based on the highest ethical standards of the profession, which aims to respect the original character of the cultural asset and its historical, aesthetic and documentary values, as well as its material integrity.
The training of the Conservator-Restorer should have as its ultimate goal the development of highly competent, qualified and trained professionals capable of thoughtfully carrying out extremely complex conservation-restoration interventions, thoroughly documenting them, so that the work and the recorded data contribute not only to preservation, but also to a deeper understanding of the historical and artistic events related to the objects being treated.
