Competencies

Competencies are the set of knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be acquired by students throughout the degree, aimed at preparing them for the exercise of professional activities.

In the Degree in Spanish Language and Literature The development of the basic competencies included in the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (MECES), RD1393/2007, by students is guaranteed:

1. That students have demonstrated knowledge and understanding in an area of study that is part of the foundation of general secondary education and is usually at a level that includes some aspects that involve knowledge from the forefront of their field of study.

2. That students know how to apply their knowledge to their work in a professional manner, and possess demonstrable skills through the development and defense of arguments and problem-solving within their area of study.

3. Students should have the ability to gather and interpret relevant data, typically within their area of study, to make judgments that include reflection on relevant social, scientific, or ethical issues.

4. That students can transmit information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialized and non-specialized audiences.

5. That students have developed the learning skills necessary to undertake further studies with a high degree of autonomy.

Degree in Spanish: Language and Literature

CG1 Specialized knowledge of the Spanish language at its different levels and its literatures.

CG2 Synchronous knowledge of the theory and practice, of the norm and its types, of the Spanish language.

CG3 Knowledge of the origins of Spanish and its evolution over time.

CG4 Historical and philological study of the main stages, movements, authors and works of Spanish-language literature: Canarian, peninsular and Latin American.

CG5 Introduction to linguistic studies.

CG6 Introduction to the theory of literature and comparative literature.

CG7 Training in the acquisition and learning of Spanish as a foreign language.

CG8 Basic training in new technologies and access to digital information as a complement to learning, teaching, and research.

CG9 Knowledge of Spanish-language literature in relation to European literature.

CG10 Knowledge of literature in relation to other creative languages: visual arts, cinema, music, drama, etc.

CG11 Knowledge of the main events of contemporary history.

CG12 Basic training in the latest trends related to art in its various forms.

CG13 Knowledge of the foundations that support Western culture through the heritage of the classical world.

Degree in Classical Studies

CG1. Knowledge and understanding of the most relevant concepts, methods, and research in the different branches of Classical Studies.

CG2. Mastery of Greek and Latin, enabling students to read texts with comprehensive and technical skills.

CG3. Knowledge of written production in Greek and Latin.

CG4. Knowledge of the cultural, social, historical, and political environment of the Greek and Latin languages.

CG5. Training to apply the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in activities to be carried out in academic and professional contexts.

CG6. Training in the communication and dissemination of knowledge, methods, and results of Classical Studies, both orally and in writing.

Degree in Spanish: Language and Literature

CE1 Instrumental mastery of the Spanish language.

CE2 Knowledge of the phonology, grammar, lexicology and pragmatics of Spanish.

CE3 Knowledge of Spanish language literature.

CE4 Knowledge of textual criticism and text editing.

CE9 Knowledge of the history and culture of Spanish-speaking countries.

CE10 Knowledge of the linguistic variation of the Spanish language.

CE11 Knowledge of the internal and external historical evolution of the Spanish language.

CE12 Knowledge of the sociolinguistic levels of Spanish.

CE13 General knowledge of Spanish literature in its relationship with European literature.

CE14 Knowledge of the theoretical and methodological currents of linguistics.

CE15 Knowledge of the theoretical and methodological currents of literary theory and criticism.

CE16 General knowledge of European literature.

CE17 Theoretical and applied knowledge of language planning models and techniques.

Degree in Classical Studies

CE1. Assimilation of the structure of the Greek and Latin languages and the complex intellectual process they entail.

CE2. Ability to apply acquired intellectual processes to the analysis and resolution of problems in other fields or disciplines.

CE3. Critical ability to discern the similarities and differences between classical culture and our own.

CE4. Ability to understand the transmission of ancient culture to the Western world.

CE5. Ability to integrate the various aspects of Classical Studies and relate them to those of other areas and disciplines

CE6. Ability to locate, evaluate, and utilize information relevant to classical studies, regardless of its sources and media.

CE7. Ability to identify problems and topics for research or expanding knowledge in Classical Studies subjects.

Degree in Spanish: Language and Literature

CT1 Use of search tools for general and specific linguistic and literary bibliographic resources, including internet access.
