This degree qualifies students to practice the regulated profession of Primary Education Teacher (ages 6 to 12), providing comprehensive training to develop the skills required for providing educational support to students in primary schools in psychopedagogical and curricular aspects. It offers the following specializations: attention to diversity; foreign language: English; foreign language: French; physical education; music education; and curriculum innovation and research.
These degree programs can be accessed through any post-secondary pathway, option, or mode. However, the recommended entry profile is someone with a clear vocation for teaching, a keen awareness of the educational needs of children in primary education (6–12 years), and an interest in acquiring the skills related to the teaching role. They must be enthusiastic about the educational and social work they must perform.
The profession for which this degree qualifies is that of Primary Education Teacher. In addition to teaching in public or private primary schools, students can pursue other professional activities in non-formal educational settings such as classrooms or nature centers, science museums, leisure and free-time centers, associations, after-school programs, academies, cultural centers, and more.
