Internships in companies, organizations, and institutions are mandatory for official degrees offered at the University of La Laguna and provide students with exposure to real-life situations, complementing their training with the reality of the working world.
External placements are conceived as a privileged space for applying the knowledge acquired throughout the program and for developing the skills students are expected to acquire. They take place in centers and entities providing social services, as well as in various public and private organizations where professional functions specific to Sociology and/or Anthropology are carried out.
These sessions will explore the diverse realities and issues addressed by both disciplines, as well as analyze society's response to each. They will also provide an introduction to the various fields in which Sociology and Anthropology can be practiced professionally.
This direct contact with professional practice can be divided into two key phases. The first phase allows students to gain cognitive and attitudinal insight into the functions, roles, and skills of sociologists and anthropologists, as well as the diverse social contexts in which they work, under the direct supervision of a professional. The second phase involves direct participation in an organization or program, providing each student with the necessary resources and skills for independent professional practice and creating spaces for reflection and action as a prerequisite for professional integration.
The External Practices subject of the Double Degree in Sociology and Anthropology is annual in nature and takes place in the 5th year.
