The objective of this service is to provide researchers from the ITB, the ULL and any public or private organization, the opportunity to develop their own cell and animal models, that allow them to advance more efficiently in their research. Likewise, SOMA gives the opportunity to cryopreserve these models to ensure their maintenance over time.[\/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion active_section=\u00bb0&#8243; css_animation=\u00bbfadeInDown\u00bb collapsible_all=\u00bbtrue\u00bb][vc_tta_section title=\u00bbServices\u00bb tab_id=\u00bbServices\u00bb][vc_column_text]<strong><i>Cloning<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For gene editing experiments with insertions of specific sequences, a DNA repair template is required which, depending on its size, must be created by cloning, which can be requested from the service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Obtaining a genetically modified cell line<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This service includes all the steps necessary to establish a genetically modified cell line, from the transfection of the reagents to obtaining the clone with the desired modification, through obtaining different clones and their screening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Pronuclear microinjection <\/i><\/strong>(coming soon)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Service to inject the content that the user needs into the pronucleus of a fertilized mouse oocyte by microinjection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>In vitro fertilization<\/i><\/strong> (coming soon)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in vitro<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fertilization process is essential for the recovery or creation of a mouse model. Subsequently, fertilized embryos must be transferred to foster mothers, unless the objective is to study their development until the blastocyst stage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Embryo transfer <\/i><\/strong>(coming soon)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The transfer of embryos to foster mothers is necessary, both when a new mouse model is being created, and when it is acquired commercially, if it is transported cryopreserved. In the latter case, the transport is easier than the alive animals, and also, it prevents the introduction of pathogens into the animal facility.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Mouse sperm cryopreservation <\/i><\/strong>(coming soon)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The freezing of mouse sperm in liquid nitrogen ensures the preservation of the animal models.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Mouse embryo cryopreservation<\/i><\/strong> (coming soon)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also sperm, it is possible to freezing mouse embryos in liquid nitrogen to preserved animal models.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Maintenance in liquid nitrogen <\/i><\/strong>(coming soon)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once sperm and embryos have been cryopreserved, they must be kept at an adequate level of nitrogen for their correct maintenance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Thawing mouse embryos <\/i><\/strong>(coming soon)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This service offers the possibility of thawing mouse embryos for their revitalization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Mouse genotyping<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When working with mouse models, it is necessary to genotype them, to confirm that they maintain the genetic modification that they initially carried.
