The building, approximately 4,000 m\u00b2, is organized into three floors: a ground floor dedicated to the advanced animal facility for rodents and small animals, currently fully operational and specially designed for the generation and maintenance of genetically modified animal models; a main floor with experimental laboratories, spaces for technology transfer managed by the Bioavance Foundation, shared equipment laboratories, and a seminar room equipped for doctoral thesis defenses; and a technical floor for the control and maintenance of the general facilities. In March 2026, the Tenerife Island Council, the University of La Laguna (ULL), and the Bioavance Foundation signed the agreement for the second phase of the building, which includes six new floors with more than 4,000 m\u00b2 of additional laboratories and research spaces.<br><br>Over the years, ITB groups have participated in a coordinated manner in competitive calls for infrastructure projects at the national and European levels, enabling the progressive acquisition and renewal of necessary equipment. These services include shared equipment and scientific and technical support in genomics, nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (NMR) for chemical analysis and structural biology, and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) for studying brain function. Translational research groups regularly collaborate with the Clinical Trials Unit of the University Hospital Complex of the Canary Islands and with the Biobank accredited by the Carlos III Health Institute.
