fa\u00e7onn\u00e9e par les caract\u00e9ristiques des \u00eeles Canaries, li\u00e9es \u00e0 leur histoire et \u00e0 leur situation g\u00e9ographique. Le g\u00e9nome actuel de la population canarienne provient d&#039;un h\u00e9ritage aborig\u00e8ne nord-africain qui, combin\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#039;influence europ\u00e9enne \u00e0 partir du XVe si\u00e8cle, forme un g\u00e9nome unique au monde. De plus, de nombreuses pathologies pr\u00e9sentent une composante g\u00e9n\u00e9tique influenc\u00e9e par le contexte insulaire, en raison de l&#039;effet fondateur et du manque d&#039;infrastructures qui ont historiquement favoris\u00e9 la consanguinit\u00e9. Les \u00e9quipes de recherche participant \u00e0 ce programme se concentrent sur l&#039;\u00e9tude des bases mol\u00e9culaires du cancer et des maladies m\u00e9taboliques rares. Concernant le cancer, leurs objectifs sont de faire progresser la pr\u00e9vention, le diagnostic, l&#039;identification des causes biologiques et le d\u00e9veloppement de traitements efficaces, afin de transformer ce grave probl\u00e8me de sant\u00e9 en une affection chronique plut\u00f4t qu&#039;en une maladie mortelle. Les analyses sont r\u00e9alis\u00e9es \u00e0 l&#039;aide de plateformes open source (MaxQuant et Perseus), qui int\u00e8grent tous les outils n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 l&#039;analyse statistique, \u00e0 Bioavance en 2006 est le fruit d&#039;une collaboration entre l&#039;Universit\u00e9 de La Laguna (ULL) et le Conseil insulaire de Tenerife (Cabildo de Tenerife) pour le d\u00e9veloppement de la recherche biom\u00e9dicale et biotechnologique. \u00c0 cette \u00e9poque, l&#039;Universit\u00e9 a cr\u00e9\u00e9 l&#039;Institut de biotechnologie de Tenerife (ITB), et le Conseil insulaire a mis en place la Fondation Bioavance afin de soutenir explicitement le d\u00e9veloppement de l&#039;Institut. La fondation est administr\u00e9e par un conseil d&#039;administration pr\u00e9sid\u00e9 par le pr\u00e9sident du Conseil insulaire de Tenerife, et dont le premier vice-pr\u00e9sident est le recteur de l&#039;ULL. Parmi les autres membres du conseil figurent actuellement le pr\u00e9sident du Conseil social de l&#039;ULL et des repr\u00e9sentants d&#039;autres instituts de recherche de l&#039;ULL.
