Conference: The Making of Economic Policy, Theory and Reality

September 22, 2025. Organized by ISTUR and coordinated by Dr. Olga González Morales. Lecture given by Dr. Antonio Sánchez Andrés (University of Valencia)
Dr. Antonio Sánchez Andrés offers a comprehensive and critical perspective on the processes by which economic policy is designed and implemented. He begins by defining the concept of economic policy and delves into who formulates it, how objectives are defined, and the true decision-making power of the government and its leader. This approach is key to understanding the structural dynamics that directly affect the social and productive sectors and provides theoretical and practical tools for economic policy analysis.
Dr. Antonio Sánchez Andrés is a professor in the Department of Applied Economics (Economic Policy) and specializes in Economic Policy and International Economics. He is currently conducting research on the economy and economic policy of Russia and China, as well as on the theory of Economic Policy (particularly methodology and history of Economic Policy). He has an extensive body of scholarly work (more than 100 articles, more than 130 books or book chapters, more than fifty miscellaneous publications (including collaborations with media outlets), and more than 100 conference papers). He has also undertaken more than fifty research stays abroad.
