Against the Massive Production of Vulnerability\u201d which will be held in San Cristobal de La Laguna, Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain) on February 27-28, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In November 2014, we celebrated the first Symposium entitled \u201cTransnationalism, Gender and Migrations\u201d at the Adeje Campus of the University of La Laguna. In July 2016, there was a second symposium entitled \u201cThe Borders of the South. Vulnerability, Gender and Intersectional Approaches;\u201d which was held at the Guajara Campus at the University of La Laguna. This third edition aims at questioning what we identify as the massive production of vulnerability linked to economic, labor, migration, and security policies. The precarization of work and life has become the dominant feature of our time, and as such it requires a thorough examination. Therefore, we invite researchers who analyze related aspects from the Humanities and Social Sciences to take part in this Symposium.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This event is part of the activities related to the research project \u201cJustice, Citizenship, and Vulnerability: Precarious Narratives and Intersectional Approaches\u201d (FFI2015-63895-C2-1-R) associated to the Instituto Universitario de Estudios de las Mujeres of the University of La Laguna, and funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia y Universidades (Government of Spain), with the collaboration of the program by the Cabildo de Tenerife \u201cMaria Rosa Alonso.\u201d This Symposium which shares the goals of the research project afore mentioned, intends to systematically review and reconsider the relations between justice and vulnerability in order to classify the problems to be tackled by the theories of justice and citizenship within a socio-economic context of massive and systematic production of precarity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the Symposium also seeks to track the use of denigrating and humiliating language by the media to address marginalized since that practice has led to the production of cultural vulnerability for such groups.
