Check the following link for the relationship of official ULL Degree qualifications whose completion recognises the achievement of foreign language skills (at least level B1) and the List of subjects from the different official ULL Degree courses, the completion of which involves attaining foreign language skills (level B1).
Admission is the allocation of places offered by the ULL to study official university courses among those who, fulfilling the access requirements indicated above (Graduate/Bachelor's degree and/or approved foreign qualification and B1 in English), have requested them.
Admission is carried out through the procedure established for this purpose in the ULL Regulations. The student must attach all official documents that prove the profile required for access, his/her academic record and his/her curriculum vitae, through which he/she will be evaluated for admission to the master's degree according to criteria of equality, merit and capacity.
The body responsible for admission that will evaluate the applications will be the Academic Committee of the degree, whose composition is determined in article 30 of the Regulations for Official Master's Degree Courses at the University of La LagunaArticle 31 of the aforementioned regulation states that the proposal for admission of students is one of the functions of the Academic Commission.
The recommended qualifications for accessing the master's degree are, firstly, degrees in Business Administration and Management, Social and Cultural Anthropology, Accounting and Finance, Economics, Geography and Land Management, Sociology, and Tourism. These degrees are in Social Sciences and have at least two subjects on quantitative methods (Statistics or similar). In these cases, no additional training will be required.
Secondly, there are other degrees in Social Sciences with less training in statistical methods than the minimum required to complete the Master's degree, such as the degrees in Pedagogy, Journalism, Social Work or Labour Relations, among others. In order for graduates of these degrees to be able to access the Master's degree, additional training will be required. Although entry to the Master's degree does not require extensive prior experience in applications in Social Sciences using quantitative and qualitative techniques, basic knowledge of statistical methods and the use and treatment of data is required. The Master's degree can also be accessed from undergraduate studies that have developed skills in numerical and quantitative methods, such as Psychology, Environmental Sciences, Statistics, Computer Engineering or Mathematics. In these cases, additional training will not be required, but the Academic Committee will take into special consideration the academic record and the motivation letter (see the Scale below).
If necessary, the training complements (12 credits) will be taken from among the statistics subjects taken in the Degree in Sociology, Economics, Business Administration and Management or Accounting and Finance at the University of La Laguna.
Those who apply for admission through qualifications other than those mentioned above will be assessed by the Academic Committee of the Master's Degree based on the subjects taken, professional experience, training in the field of Social and Legal Sciences in statistical methods and data analysis, and on the interest and motivation of the graduate to enter into the analysis of methods applied in Social Sciences.
ScaleFor admission purposes, the selection of applicants will be carried out by the Academic Committee of the Master's Degree taking into account the following scale (maximum 100 points):
Given the characteristics of the proposed degree, which requires prior knowledge of statistical or quantitative analysis, and if the Master's Academic Committee deems it necessary, a personal interview may be held to assess the applicants' level of knowledge in this field, as well as for the interested party to defend the Letter of Interest and the reasons that have led them to request admission to the Master's. Likewise, the Academic Committee may condition the student's admission to the completion of the training supplement that it deems appropriate to cover deficiencies in their degree training and that is necessary to complete the Master's.
In the case of students with specific educational needs arising from a disability, the academic director of the master's degree will assess the need for possible curricular adaptations, itineraries or alternative studies and will prepare the corresponding proposal to the Academic Committee of the Master's Degree for approval. To do so, the support and advice of the Program for Support to Students with Specific Educational Support Needs (PAED), which reports to the vice-rectorate with responsibilities for students, will be available.
