Master Degree in Management in Marine Technologies

Recognition and transfer of credits

The system of Recognition and Transfer of Credits will be carried out in accordance with the current regulations established in the Regulation of Recognition, Adaptation and Transfer of
Credits of the University of La Laguna.

Article 3 of the Regulation establishes the definitions of recognition and transfer of credits. Credit recognition is understood as the acceptance of credits obtained in official courses at the same or another university or from Higher Level Training Cycles, academic activities or validation of work or professional experience, for their calculation for the purposes of obtaining an official degree from the University of La Laguna.

Transfer of credits is understood as the annotation in the official academic documents of the University of La Laguna accrediting the teachings followed by each student of all the credits obtained in official teachings previously completed, at the same or another university, that have not been object of recognition or have led to the obtaining of an official title.

The Regulation in its chapter II defines the rules for the recognition and transfer of credits. In what is applicable to Master’s studies, article 4 establishes the following rules:

  • The recognition of credits will be made for the total credits of a subject and the recognition of a partial number of credits will not be contemplated. The Master’s Thesis may not be recognized.
  • The credits obtained in studies belonging to the same cycle will be recognized: master’s degree.
  • Recognition of credits in official master’s studies may also be obtained from previous studies completed in postgraduate degrees of the ULL or of another university, depending on the adequacy between the skills and knowledge associated with the subjects passed and those provided in the study plan of the corresponding official master’s degrees. This recognition may not exceed 15% of the total credits of the official degree.
  • The credits obtained in undergraduate studies from previous university degree systems may be recognized in official university master’s degree studies based on the adequacy of content and/or competencies between one and the other.
  • The unit of recognition will be the modules, materials and subjects, as established in the corresponding study plan. They will appear in the file as recognized credits and will be taken into account as credits completed in the degree.

The Regulation contemplates, in application of current legislation, the recognition of up to 15% of the total credits of the degree for previous professional experience or for subjects included in own postgraduate degrees. However, this possibility of recognition is not considered in the Master- s Degree in Management in Marine Technologies.
