The Student Delegation of the Faculty of Humanities is organizing a guided tour of the Old House of the Jesuits, one of the most emblematic buildings in the historic center of San Cristóbal de La Laguna and closely linked to the origins of the University of La Laguna.

The building housed the former Literary University of San Fernando, an institution founded in 1792 and considered the direct predecessor of the current University of La Laguna. Higher education in the Canary Islands flourished within its walls for much of the 19th and 20th centuries, making it a fundamental space in the history of education and culture in the archipelago.

Today, the former Jesuit residence houses the headquarters of the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country of Tenerife, an institution founded in 1777 dedicated to promoting knowledge, research, heritage, and cultural development in the Canary Islands. The visit will allow visitors to learn about the building's historical evolution, its architectural value, and the important role it has played in university education in the Canary Islands.

This initiative is aimed at the entire university community and anyone interested (with prior registration) in learning about the historical heritage and origins of the University of La Laguna in the context of its centenary celebration.
