Se especializ\u00f3 en Microbiolog\u00eda, obteniendo el grado de doctora en el a\u00f1o 2012, a caballo entre la ULL y la Unidad de Investigaci\u00f3n del Hospital Universitario Ntra. Sra. de la Candelaria. Su tesis doctoral se centr\u00f3 en la identificaci\u00f3n, seg\u00fan sus caracter\u00edsticas gen\u00e9ticas, de diferentes cepas de <em>Staphylococcus aureus<\/em> multiresistentes a antibi\u00f3ticos, propias de ambientes hospitalarios, causantes de infecciones en individuos sanos. Asimismo, durante ese tiempo valid\u00f3 un m\u00e9todo r\u00e1pido y sencillo para la detecci\u00f3n de cepas altamente agresivas, que pudo implementarse en el hospital.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Entre los a\u00f1os 2012 y 2015 comienza a impartir docencia en secundaria de las asignaturas del \u00e1rea de Ciencias. En este tiempo, explora el mundo de la educaci\u00f3n, desarrollando sus habilidades comunicativas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">En el a\u00f1o 2015 regresa a la investigaci\u00f3n de la mano de la Dra. Teresa Gir\u00e1ldez, para trabajar en un proyecto europeo, que trata de estudiar los mecanismos de regulaci\u00f3n de un canal i\u00f3nico de potasio acoplado con diferentes canales de calcio, y su participaci\u00f3n en la transmisi\u00f3n del impulso nervioso. Entra, por tanto, a trabajar en el \u00c1rea de Fisiolog\u00eda, centr\u00e1ndose en t\u00e9cnicas de Biolog\u00eda Molecular, y especialmente en la t\u00e9cnica de edici\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica CRISPR.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">En 2019 se le concede su primer proyecto como investigadora principal, un Proyecto Agust\u00edn de Betancourt, financiado por el Cabildo Insular de Tenerife al amparo de la Estrategia Tenerife 2030, del Marco Estrat\u00e9gico de Desarrollo Insular (MEDI) del Cabildo Insular de Tenerife y cofinanciado por el Fondo de Desarrollo de Canarias (FDCAN) del Gobierno de Canarias. Teniendo como centro la edici\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica mediante CRISPR, la Dra. Rivero desarrolla un proyecto con el que pretende crear un servicio en nuestra isla de creaci\u00f3n y criopreservaci\u00f3n de modelos celulares y animales, que reproduzcan patolog\u00edas o condiciones gen\u00e9ticas, que los investigadores puedan utilizar para avanzar m\u00e1s eficientemente en sus estudios.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Amante y defensora de la investigaci\u00f3n b\u00e1sica, apuesta en este momento por poner al servicio de la sociedad los conocimientos y destrezas que ha adquirido durante su carrera profesional.
