Su l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n se ha centrado en el estudio de la evoluci\u00f3n de poblaciones humanas a trav\u00e9s de la comparaci\u00f3n de la estructura poblacional actual con informaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica obtenida a partir de material arqueol\u00f3gico. En el a\u00f1o 2003 obtuvo el t\u00edtulo de Licenciada en Biolog\u00eda por la ULL y en 2005 le otorgaron el Diploma de Estudios Avanzados. En 2010, obtuvo el t\u00edtulo de Doctor en Biolog\u00eda por la ULL, financiado por la beca de la Fundaci\u00f3n CajaCanarias (2004 \u2013 2005) y la beca de doctorado del Gobierno Auton\u00f3mico de Canarias (2006 \u2013 2010). Su tesis doctoral fue galardonada con la Menci\u00f3n de Calidad Europea y el Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado de la ULL.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Tras finalizar su etapa predoctoral, trabaj\u00f3 como investigadora aut\u00f3noma durante los a\u00f1os 2010-2013 en el Instituto de Medicina Legal de Las Palmas para optimizar protocolos que les permitieran obtener ADN a partir de muestras forenses en un avanzado estado de degradaci\u00f3n, especialmente aquellas relacionadas con proyectos de Memoria Hist\u00f3rica. En el a\u00f1o 2014 obtuvo una beca de la Fundaci\u00f3n Dr. Manuel Morales para realizar una estancia postdoctoral en el laboratorio del Dr. Carlos Bustamante en la Universidad de Stanford (Estados Unidos). Su proyecto postdoctoral consisti\u00f3 en el primer estudio paleogen\u00e9tico del tr\u00e1fico de esclavos en el Oc\u00e9ano \u00cdndico y la caracterizaci\u00f3n de ADN antiguo del agente causal de la malaria. Durante los a\u00f1os 2015-2017, fue contratada por la Universidad de Stanford para liderar un proyecto paleogen\u00f3mico sobre la transici\u00f3n neol\u00edtica en el Norte de \u00c1frica y el Sur de la Pen\u00ednsula Ib\u00e9rica. En el a\u00f1o 2018, regres\u00f3 a la ULL, con el objetivo de recuperar la l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n de ADN antiguo y establecer su propio grupo de investigaci\u00f3n en esta universidad.
