Durante el doctorado, su investigaci\u00f3n se centra en an\u00e1lisis gen\u00e9ticos e inmunol\u00f3gicos de genes de tripanosom\u00e1tidos de los g\u00e9neros <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Leishmania<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> y <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Trypanosoma<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ha desarrollado su carrera investigadora en varios centros internacionales como el\u00a0Instituto de Parasitolog\u00eda y Biomedicina L\u00f3pez-Neyra-CSIC, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wellcome Laboratories for Molecular Parasitology<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0del\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(Reino Unido) y la <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">donde trabaja durante 3 a\u00f1os en estudio de los mecanismos moleculares de regulaci\u00f3n de la transcripci\u00f3n y el control de la segregaci\u00f3n de pl\u00e1smidos en bacterias.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Desde 2010 es profesora del \u00e1rea de Parasitolog\u00eda de la ULL, donde imparte docencia en los Grados en Farmacia y Medicina, adem\u00e1s de en el M\u00e1ster Universitario <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">en Investigaci\u00f3n y Diagn\u00f3stico de Enfermedades Tropicales de la ULL.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Su principal l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n se desarrolla en el Instituto Universitario de Enfermedades Tropicales y Salud P\u00fablica de Canarias-ULL, y <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">se centra en la caracterizaci\u00f3n de c\u00f3mo el sistema inmune responde a la infecci\u00f3n de par\u00e1sitos tripanosom\u00e1tidos, principalmente <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Leishmania infantum y Trypanosoma cruzi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, identificando cambios globales en los patrones de expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica en los \u00f3rganos diana como una herramienta \u00fatil para identificar mecanismos involucrados en el establecimiento de la enfermedad y tambi\u00e9n proponer estrategias racionales para el desarrollo de terapias inmunomoduladoras e inmunoprofil\u00e1cticas. Adem\u00e1s, ha colaborado con el Servicio Canario de la Salud y la Universidad de Barcelona en el desarrollo del proyecto competitivo \u201cZoonosis emergentes como causas de Fiebre de Duraci\u00f3n Intermedia (FDI) en las islas de La Palma y El Hierro, Canarias\u201d del que fue I.P., y en el que se desarrollaron protocolos para la detecci\u00f3n molecular de los microorganismos causantes de FDI en pacientes. Desde 2019 desarrolla tambi\u00e9n una colaboraci\u00f3n con profesorado de la Universidad de Cabo Verde (Uni-CV) orientada a la formaci\u00f3n de posgrado en la ULL de estudiantes caboverdianos, en temas que permiten ayudar a resolver algunos de los problemas de salud m\u00e1s acuciantes para el pa\u00eds. En este \u00e1mbito, dirige conjuntamente con profesorado de la Uni-CV Tesis Doctorales de posgraduados caboverdianos enfocadas en la etiolog\u00eda de las infecciones del tracto respiratorio en ni\u00f1os y en la caracterizaci\u00f3n de la infecci\u00f3n por VPH en mujeres de Cabo Verde.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A nivel acad\u00e9mico, ha sido durante 8 a\u00f1os <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Directora Acad\u00e9mica del M\u00e1ster Universitario en Investigaci\u00f3n y Diagn\u00f3stico de Enfermedades Tropicales de la ULL, as\u00ed como del Experto Universitario en Asesoramiento profesional en la Oficina de Farmacia, en sus dos ediciones (2020 y 2021-22).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ha participado como investigadora en numerosos proyectos de I+D+i financiados en convocatorias competitivas de administraciones o entidades p\u00fablicas y privadas. Es autora o coautora de numerosas publicaciones, documentos cient\u00edficos y t\u00e9cnicos publicados en revistas internacionales indexadas, as\u00ed como varios cap\u00edtulos de libros.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Actualmente es Investigadora principal de un proyecto del Programa INTERREG VI-D MAC 2021-2027 de la Uni\u00f3n Europea, financiado con m\u00e1s de 2.5 millones de euros y en el que colabora con el Instituto de Productos Naturales y Agrobiolog\u00eda del CSIC, la Fundaci\u00f3n General de la ULL, la Uni-CV y la Universidad de Sao Tom\u00e9 y Pr\u00edncipe, adem\u00e1s de varias empresas privadas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\u00bb<strong>Departamento<\/strong>\u00bb font_container=\u00bbtag:h4|text_align:left|color:%23535968&#8243;
