Su tesis doctoral se centra en la b\u00fasqueda de nuevas mol\u00e9culas terap\u00e9uticas para combatir la ameba de vida libre <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Naegleria fowleri<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, conocida vulgarmente como ameba comecerebros, que puede ocasionar enfermedades de alta letalidad. Las amebas de vida libre son microorganismos microsc\u00f3picos presentes en diversos entornos que pueden causar enfermedades en humanos al ingresar por la mucosa nasal, como encefalitis amebianas, lesiones epiteliales e incluso queratitis. Chao Pellicer ha publicado 13 art\u00edculos cient\u00edficos en revistas de alto impacto (indexadas en JCR) y ha presentado m\u00e1s de 80 comunicaciones en congresos nacionales e internacionales relacionados con la parasitolog\u00eda.
