Obtuvo su doctorado en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid en 2014 con la tesis titulada \u201cOtras visualidades: crear y ense\u00f1ar fotograf\u00eda desde la percepci\u00f3n invidente\u201d, dirigida por Beatriz Fern\u00e1ndez Ruiz y Alfredo Palacios Garrido.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Actualmente, Pe\u00f1a-S\u00e1nchez es profesora contratada doctora en el Departamento de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de La Laguna, donde forma parte del grupo de investigaci\u00f3n Arte_C, centrado en el arte contempor\u00e1neo. Su labor acad\u00e9mica se articula en torno a la mediaci\u00f3n art\u00edstica y cultural, la investigaci\u00f3n basada en las artes, la fotograf\u00eda, as\u00ed como pr\u00e1cticas art\u00edsticas que exploran la sensorialidad desde lo gr\u00e1fico. Su visi\u00f3n por una educaci\u00f3n art\u00edstica que promueva la concienciaci\u00f3n de la diversidad cultural desde la interdisciplinariedad art\u00edstica.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A lo largo de su carrera, Pe\u00f1a S\u00e1nchez ha publicado m\u00e1s de 40 trabajos en revistas acad\u00e9micas, libros y congresos tanto nacionales e internacionales. Entre sus publicaciones m\u00e1s destacadas se encuentran: \u201cLa fotograf\u00eda como imagen sensorial. Recuerdos invisibles para una interpretaci\u00f3n visual\u201d (2014), que explora la comprensi\u00f3n visual desde la experimentaci\u00f3n sensorial; \u201cEntrevista a Wendy Ewald: \u00bfc\u00f3mo desarrollar propuestas colaborativas utilizando la fotograf\u00eda?\u201d (2011), y \u201cCreating Social Dialogues through a Media Arts Education Project in the Canary Islands\u201d (2022) analizando una experiencia en artes medi\u00e1ticas desde la diversidad cultural.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Adem\u00e1s, es investigadora del proyecto DECHADOS: Creatividad inclusiva en secundaria mediante la relaci\u00f3n entre centros educativos y museos\u201d (2022-2025) liderado por la Universidad de Valencia. Ha coordinado y participado en congresos internacionales como World Summit of Arts Education (2024, 2023), VI Congreso Internacional de Investigaci\u00f3n en Artes Visuales (ANIAV, 2024) y el 2019 InSEA World Congress- con membres\u00eda de esta red International Society for Education Through Art (InSEA). Pe\u00f1a S\u00e1nchez ha establecido diversas colaboraciones con investigadores y profesionales del \u00e1mbito art\u00edstico y educativo. Entre sus colaboraciones m\u00e1s relevantes se encuentran trabajos con Simon Hayhoe con \u201cCanterbury, revisited: Reflections on a collaborative photography course for sighted and visually impaired participants\u201d (2023) ; con Rosa Mar\u00eda Cubillo L\u00f3pez, como \u201cEstrategias para la mediaci\u00f3n art\u00edstica: bordar la herida para aprender a sanar\u201d (2023); con Ascensi\u00f3n Camero Arranz, \u201cAn interdisciplinary action for caring for the biodiversity of the Canary Islands through arts-based explorations* (2023); y con Miriam Gonz\u00e1lez \u00c1lvarez, \u201cLa (re)presentaci\u00f3n identitaria de g\u00e9nero en el retrato. An\u00e1lisis del binarismo hegem\u00f3nico desde la indagaci\u00f3n po\u00e9tica\u201d (2024).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Su trabajo tambi\u00e9n ha sido reconocido en plataformas acad\u00e9micas como Dialnet, donde su tesis doctoral ha recibido m\u00faltiples citas. La investigadora se distingue por su enfoque interdisciplinario que integra arte, educaci\u00f3n y compromiso social. Su labor contribuye a la transformaci\u00f3n de la ense\u00f1anza de las artes, promoviendo pr\u00e1cticas inclusivas y reflexivas que cuestionan las normas establecidas en torno a la imagen y la percepci\u00f3n.
