En 2001 se doctor\u00f3 en Bioqu\u00edmica por la misma universidad. Su tesis doctoral estudi\u00f3 los \u201cMecanismos de modulaci\u00f3n de canales erg y su relaci\u00f3n con la actividad el\u00e9ctrica y oscilaciones de calcio en c\u00e9lulas adenohipofisarias\u00bb. Gir\u00e1ldez realiz\u00f3 estancias posdoctorales en la Universidad de Yale, y diversas estancias cient\u00edficas en otras universidades e instituciones de investigaci\u00f3n en EEUU entre los a\u00f1os 2002 y 2006. En 2014 se incorpor\u00f3 con un contrato \u201cRam\u00f3n y Cajal\u201d en la Universidad de La Laguna (ULL), donde desde 2019 es Profesora Titular y desde 2023 es catedr\u00e1tica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">A lo largo de su carrera cient\u00edfica se ha formado en Biof\u00edsica, Fisiolog\u00eda y Neurociencia, con una experiencia de m\u00e1s de 25 a\u00f1os en el estudio de canales i\u00f3nicos englobando desde el estudio de su relaci\u00f3n estructura-funci\u00f3n hasta los mecanismos de regulaci\u00f3n fisiol\u00f3gica en sistemas celulares y modelos animales. Su trabajo lo ha desarrollado liderando y participando en m\u00e1s de cuarenta proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n financiados en convocatorias competitivas de \u00e1mbito nacional e internacional, incluyendo un prestigioso proyecto del European Research Council. Su producci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica se refleja en cerca de cincuenta art\u00edculos en revistas internacionales de prestigio, decenas de contribuciones en congresos, muchas de ellas como ponente invitada, y a la direcci\u00f3n de diez tesis doctorales -y cuenta con otras tres en proceso-. Es peri\u00f3dicamente invitada a impartir conferencias de investigaci\u00f3n en centros internacionales. Por otra parte, Gir\u00e1ldez es Gestora Colaboradora de la Agencia Estatal de Investigaci\u00f3n en el \u00e1rea de Biociencias y Biotecnolog\u00eda y tambi\u00e9n es Secretaria electa de la Sociedad Americana de Biof\u00edsica y miembro de las Juntas Directivas de las Sociedades Espa\u00f1olas de Biof\u00edsica y de Neurociencia. Adem\u00e1s ha organizado numerosos congresos o workshops a nivel nacional e internacional, y participado peri\u00f3dica y activamente en los comit\u00e9s cient\u00edficos y organizadores de otros tantos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Compagina su actividad cient\u00edfica con una extensa experiencia docente, como Profesora de Fisiolog\u00eda en los Grados de Medicina y Farmacia y en el M\u00e1ster de Biomedicina de la ULL, adem\u00e1s de impartir cursos como profesora invitada en diversas instituciones nacionales e internacionales, destacando su labor como instructora permanente en los prestigiosos cursos de verano de Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories, en EEUU. A la vez particip\u00f3 activamente en iniciativas nacionales de divulgaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica como el proyecto nacional ENCIENDE, destinado a promover la educaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica en edades tempranas, tambi\u00e9n en la secci\u00f3n de ciencia del programa de radio \u201cLa Esfera\u201d de Radio Uni\u00f3n Tenerife. Peri\u00f3dicamente imparte conferencias en diversos \u00e1mbitos, adem\u00e1s de elaborar diversos materiales de divulgaci\u00f3n. Ha sido coordinadora o colaboradora en diversas acciones de divulgaci\u00f3n financiadas por FECYT.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Entre los diversos reconocimientos recibidos, obtuvo una prestigiosa ERC-Consolidator Grant en 2014 y varios premios por su labor investigadora como el Premio Internacional \u201cMargaret Oakley Dayhoff\u201d y la Bolsa de Investigaci\u00f3n L\u2019Oreal-UNESCO \u201cFor Women In Science\u201d en 2009, as\u00ed como el Premio \u201cSBE-Izasa-Bekman-Coulter\u201d en 2011. Su labor investigadora ha sido reconocida a nivel social por el Orfe\u00f3n La Paz en La Laguna, que la nombr\u00f3 \u201cMujer Canaria del A\u00f1o\u201d en 2013, por la ULL (Premio \u201c8M\u201d del Instituto de Estudios de la Mujer, 2015), por la Fundaci\u00f3n \u201cMas Mujer\u201d de Tenerife (Premio \u201cMujer e Innovaci\u00f3n\u201d 2017), as\u00ed como por el Ayuntamiento de Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Reconocimiento a su labor investigadora, 2019) y la Sociedad de Biof\u00edsica de Espa\u00f1a (Premio Manuel Rico-Bruker, 2023).<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\u00bbDepartamento\u00bb font_container=\u00bbtag:h3|text_align:left|color:%23535968&#8243;
