Vecinos que nos vienen a ver de manera inesperada y que nos recuerdan que no vivimos solos. Como cuando suena el timbre de la puerta en casa, con el mismo brinco han recibido los astr\u00f3nomos la llegada de un objeto nuevo a nuestro Sistema Solar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">El 1 de julio de 2025, el sistema de <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fallingstar.com\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">telescopios ATLAS <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System) de la Universidad de Haw\u00e1i, detect\u00f3 un nuevo objeto. Al estudiar su \u00f3rbita, los astrof\u00edsicos observaron que 3I\/ATLAS, tal y como se denomin\u00f3 en un principio, no proced\u00eda de nuestro sistema solar. La \u00f3rbita era tan abierta que proyectaba su origen muy lejos de los demonios del Sol. Cuando se confirm\u00f3 que 3I\/ATLAS era un visitante lejano, las alarmas de observaci\u00f3n se propagaron por todo el mundo, y los principales telescopios del planeta se pusieron a observar para conocer de cerca la identidad del visitante.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Su importancia radica en lo extra\u00f1o de la visita de estos objetos lejanos. Ser\u00eda el tercero en llegar desde tan lejos. El primer objeto proveniente de las fronteras de la galaxia fue famoso y controvertido <\/span><b>1I\/\u02bbOumuamua<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, descubierto en 2017. El segundo <\/span><b>2I\/Borisov<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, descubierto en 2019. Ahora 3I\/ATLAS ya est\u00e1 desvelando algunos de sus secretos gracias a la campa\u00f1a mundial de observaci\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Estos astros con \u00f3rbitas hiperb\u00f3licas suelen pasar por nuestro barrio muy r\u00e1pido (<\/span><b>210.000 km\/h<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">) y evidentemente, solo tenemos una oportunidad para observarlo. Por eso, se ha convertido en un objeto de deseo entre los astr\u00f3nomos, que han dejado apartado todo lo dem\u00e1s y ocupando los tiempos de observaci\u00f3n en los telescopios para interrogar al visitante extranjero. \u00bfDe d\u00f3nde vienes? \u00bfde qu\u00e9 est\u00e1s hecho? \u00bfc\u00f3mo eres? Uno de esos equipos est\u00e1 en Canarias. Las observaciones realizadas por el grupo del Instituto de Astrof\u00edsica de Canarias con <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iac.es\/es\/ciencia-y-tecnologia\/publicaciones\/atlas-teide-next-generation-atlas-units-teide-observatory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ATLAS-Teide<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> y con el telescopio de 1 metro TST, tambi\u00e9n en el Observatorio del Teide, han contribuido a determinar la \u00f3rbita de este objeto. Adem\u00e1s, \u201cim\u00e1genes obtenidas con el telescopio TTT de 2 m, confirman la presencia de una coma extendida, asociada a un cometa\u201d.\u00a0 Seg\u00fan anuncian desde el centro de investigaci\u00f3n\u201d El grupo, liderado por los investigadores Julia de Le\u00f3n y Javier Licandro, continuar\u00e1 realizando observaciones con ATLAS-Teide y est\u00e1n planificadas adem\u00e1s nuevas observaciones con los TTT de 2 m y 80 cm, y con el telescopio \u00f3ptico e infrarrojo m\u00e1s grande del mundo, el <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gtc.iac.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gran Telescopio Canarias<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (GTC), ubicado en el Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos (Garaf\u00eda, La Palma), a trav\u00e9s de un programa en colaboraci\u00f3n con investigadores de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. El astro interestelar no se acercar\u00e1 lo suficiente a la Tierra como para ser visible a simple vista, pero realizar\u00e1 su paso m\u00e1s pr\u00f3ximo el 19 de diciembre de 2025, a una distancia de aproximadamente unos 270 millones de km. Marte ser\u00e1 el planeta que m\u00e1s cerca estar\u00e1 del cometa interestelar. Tendr\u00e1 su paso m\u00e1s cercano al planeta rojo el 3 de octubre de 2025, acerc\u00e1ndose hasta aproximadamente 28\u202fmillones\u202fkm.
