Pedro \u00c1lvarez P\u00e9rez<\/a> es profesor titular del Departamento de Did\u00e1ctica e Investigaci\u00f3n Educativa especializado en la b\u00fasqueda de estrategias para mejorar la orientaci\u00f3n acad\u00e9mica y profesional.
\nExisten muchas razones que provocan que el alumnado pierda la motivaci\u00f3n hasta desembocar en el fracaso acad\u00e9mico o, incluso, el abandono. Por ello, este investigador ha coordinado numerosos proyectos sobre orientaci\u00f3n, en los que ha quedado de manifiesto que la detecci\u00f3n temprana es esencial para actuar a tiempo y evitar un fracaso que no es s\u00f3lo del propio estudiante, sino de su familia, el profesorado, la propia instituci\u00f3n acad\u00e9mica y el mercado laboral, que pierde talento. \u201cAyudar a que los alumnos salgan adelante es una manera que tiene la universidad para rendir cuentas\u201d. Por ello, \u00c1lvarez fue uno de los impulsores del Servicio de Informaci\u00f3n y Orientaci\u00f3n para Alumnado (SOIA) de la Facultad de Educaci\u00f3n, un modelo de \u00e9xito que no dej\u00f3 de prestar servicio ni siquiera durante la pandemia, y que el especialista considera que podr\u00eda extrapolar a otros centros. Por lo pronto, ha colaborado con las autoridades acad\u00e9micas para reforzar el Plan de Orientaci\u00f3n y Acci\u00f3n Tutorial (POAT) que s\u00ed es com\u00fan en todas las facultades y escuelas.<\/p>\n
