This will be followed by a visit to the faculty by the rector and part of his team.
Francisco García expressed his gratitude for the team members' commitment to managing the public university, acknowledging their willingness to sacrifice their research careers, and offered them the full support of the Rector's Office. Also present at the meeting were the Vice-Rectors for Teaching and Culture and for University Extension, as well as the Secretary General. In this regard, he emphasized the particular need to incorporate faculty with clinical experience and the importance of this group teaching full-time. Pais also highlighted the new simulation lab, which is now fully operational, improving the quality of student training, and which will soon be complemented with another robot.
The dean also mentioned other aspects related to the center's infrastructure and the need for a new building. He noted that the creation of a Faculty of Nursing has already been approved and that the procedures for its establishment are underway. Regarding this degree program, he indicated that a modification of the curriculum, which will be undertaken shortly, is necessary and that it also requires more faculty members.
This situation also applies to the Physiotherapy degree, which is also taught at the Faculty of Health Sciences, although new teaching positions have recently been added.
Other challenges mentioned by the head of the center have to do with the relevance of applying for a quality seal and its corresponding evaluation and the improvement of the results of graduates in the MIR tests of medical specialties.
