He University Institute for Women's Studies The University of La Laguna has renewed for a new term the management team that has been in place for the last two years, composed of Carina González González as director, Lara Carrascosa Puertas as deputy director and Jezabel Molina Gil as secretary. The rector of the academic institution, Francisco García, received them today, Tuesday, January 23, to congratulate them on their new endeavor and to learn about their plans for this period that is now beginning.

Carina González expressed the institute's interest in increasing the research potential of its nearly one hundred female researchers and also improving the dissemination of their scientific output, by focusing on open science platforms. In this regard, she noted that they are promoting the practice of archiving all publications generated by staff members of the organization in the Institutional Repository (RIULL) and that, additionally, other avenues will be explored.

Its director noted that the institute not only generates a great deal of research, but also carries out numerous activities to transfer its findings to society, maintaining constant contact with public and private institutions to produce reports and provide advisory services. She pointed out, for example, that they receive many inquiries from organizations of all kinds regarding gender policies, and that several educational centers have requested informational talks on sensitive issues such as sexual and gender-based violence.

An example of this mobilization capacity of the institute was the launch last November of the La Laguna en Negro campaign, to make visible the social rejection of gender violence, and which brought together the city council and commercial associations to make this scourge visible.

Another of the institute's priorities will be to promote a gender perspective in all phases of research, from hypothesis formulation to results evaluation. González points out that this is something many researchers want to undertake but don't know how, which is why the institute has been offering specific training on this topic for several years in the form of an Advanced Research Seminar.
