The University of La Laguna is one of the partner institutions developing the research project “Artificial Intelligence Model to Enrich and Improve Mathematical Skills in Adolescent Students (MathIA),” funded through Erasmus+. The general outlines of this initiative will be presented tomorrow, Thursday, April 18, at 10:10 a.m. in the Audiovisual Room of the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy.
The event will be attended by the Rector of the University of La Laguna, Francisco García Rodríguez; the Deputy Minister of Universities and Research of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ciro Gutiérrez Ascanio; the Director of the MathIA Program at the University of Murcia, Ana Fuensanta Hernández; and the Professor of Methodology of Behavioral Sciences and coordinator of the project at the University of La Laguna, África Borges del Rosal.
MathIA is a research project led by the University of Murcia and with the participation of the universities of La Laguna, Pavia (Italy) and Madeira (Portugal) as partners, as well as the Vicente Medina, Maycol, Instituto Comprensivo di Vi Angeli and Comenius Idl schools.
The project aims to develop an Artificial Intelligence model that will help improve adolescents' performance in mathematics. It will also promote values such as equality and attention to diversity, raising awareness about giftedness, learning difficulties, and special educational needs.
Furthermore, this scientific work will generate a resource bank to assist teachers in lesson planning and promote learning in STEM fields, as well as reduce anxiety levels before exams. The project has received €400,000 in funding and is expected to last three years.
