The Governing Council of the ULL approves the incorporation of one hundred newly created teaching positions

Friday July 26, 2024 - 14:24 CEST

The call for applications for 53 Assistant Professor positions and 47 Associate Professor positions at the University of La Laguna, approved today, July 26, by the Governing Council, requires the modification of the Job Classification List for teaching and research staff, in order to create the necessary positions in the areas of knowledge and their respective departments, a matter that was agreed upon in this morning's session of the collegiate body, held entirely online.

This involves bringing new talent into the academic center, as these individuals are entering the institution for the first time, explained the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Research Staff (PDI), Alfonso Ruiz Rallo. To finance these new positions, the Vice-Rector explained that the first group will be funded from the university's existing budget, while the second group will depend on the application submitted to the Regional Ministry by the two rectors of the Canary Islands' public universities on July 10th, or, if applicable, on the advance funding from the so-called Integra Plan for the incorporation of teaching and research talent into Spanish public universities.

In other matters, today's session also saw the approval of the new regulations for the subject governing the Final Degree Project, as well as the modifications to the documents governing the specific teachings and the curricular evaluation by compensation, all presented by the Vice-Rector for Teaching, José Manuel Fraga.

For her part, the Vice-Rector for Students, Rosario Hernández, obtained approval to modify the academic calendar for the 2024/25 academic year to establish September 13, 2024, the date of the opening ceremony for the new academic year, as a non-teaching day. She also endorsed the modification of the student disciplinary regulations and the code of conduct.

At this end-of-year Governing Council meeting, other routine matters were addressed, such as the appointment of the six members of the university's Coexistence Committee. The Job Classification List for both technical, administrative, and service staff, including both contract and civil servant positions, was also amended.
