The Center for Studies on Social Inequality and Governance (CEDESOG) and the Institutional Chair of Childhood and Adolescence, with the collaboration of the Vice-Rectorate for Research of the University of La Laguna, have organized the conference “Analysis of child poverty: challenges and implications”, which will be held in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication, in the La Pirámide building, next Monday, October 21, starting at 9:30 a.m.
The conference will be opened by the Vice-Rector for Culture and University Extension, Isabel Karely León Pérez; the Island Councillor for the Area of Social Action, Inclusion and Volunteering of the Island Council of Tenerife, Águeda Fumero Roque; and the professor from the Department of Nursing and director of CEDESOG, Sara Darias Curvo, who has been the coordinator of this meeting, together with the professor from the Department of Communication Sciences and Social Work and deputy director of the organizing center, Míriam Álvarez Lorenzo.
This forum takes a multidisciplinary approach with the aim of disseminating up-to-date information on child poverty, focusing particularly on the regional and national levels. To this end, it will feature a panel of experts from organizations such as UNICEF and the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN), as well as researchers from academic fields.
The event is open to the entire university community and anyone interested in this issue, but to attend, you will need to complete a free registration, available at this link. A certificate of attendance will also be given to those who participate.
Among other objectives, this meeting seeks to analyze the situation of child poverty at the national and regional levels, reflect on the consequences of this problem, identify the key elements of public policies aimed at responding to this challenge, and assess the practical implications in different professional fields.
