Spanish Association Against Meningitis
The Spanish Association Against Meningitis is currently the only non-profit organization fighting to defeat meningitis in Spain and protect the entire population from the consequences of this terrible disease. It conducts awareness campaigns about the importance of prevention among the general public and provides support to families and individuals affected by meningitis to improve their quality of life.
It has created a financial aid fund for affected individuals, used for cochlear implants, their maintenance and replacement, assistance with prostheses, walkers, crutches, mobility lifts, and vehicle adaptations for people with reduced mobility, as well as neuropsychological assessments and reports for aid applications, among other services that an affected person may need. It is worth remembering that approximately 20% of those who survive meningitis are left with disabilities and long-term effects such as sensory loss, brain damage, or limb amputation.
