The Computing Center of the Higher School of Engineering and Technology at the University of La Laguna hosted the third Santa Cruz de Tenerife Informatics Olympiad on Friday, January 24th. The winner was Adrián González García, a student at IES Adeje. The pair of Adrián González García and the winner of the third Las Palmas Olympiad, both organized by the School of Computer Engineering at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, will represent the Canary Islands in the Spanish Informatics Olympiad. Second place went to Adriano Porcheddu from IES Ichasagua, and third place to Víctor Perestelo González from IES Viera y Clavijo.

The test, which was in-person and individual, lasted a total of two hours. It consisted of solving as many of the given exercises as possible in the shortest amount of time, using either the C++ or Python programming languages. The solutions submitted by the students were automatically graded by an online judge.

The director of ESIT, Leopoldo Acosta, and Casiano Rodríguez León, representing the organizing committee, welcomed the participants. Thirty-nine students from ten schools registered: IES Viera y Clavijo (10), CPEIPS Echeyde II (12), Pureza de María de Santa Cruz (5), CEO San Miguel de Abona (1), Colegio Hispano Inglés (3), IES Adeje (1), IES Valle Guerra (1), IES Villa de Mazo (La Palma) (3), CPEIPS Luther King del Sur (1), and IES Ichasagua (1). Ultimately, nineteen students attended the competition.

Between April 4th and 6th, 2025, the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of A Coruña will host the 29th edition of the Spanish Informatics Olympiad, which will select the four secondary school students who will represent Spain at the International Olympiad in Informatics in La Paz, Bolivia, from July 27th to August 3rd, 2025. The Canary Islands will be represented regionally through the Canary Islands Informatics Olympiad, which is celebrating its fourth edition this year.
