The Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization and Cooperation of the University of La Laguna held a working meeting this week with representatives from CIFP Las Indias, the University of Cape Verde, the Université Gaston Berger (Senegal), the Universidade Gregório Semedo (Angola) and SIC Ljubljana (Slovenia).

During the meeting, possible avenues for academic and training collaboration between the participating institutions were analyzed, with the aim of exploring the creation of an international cooperation consortium that would allow the promotion of joint projects for mobility, training and capacity building in educational and scientific fields.

The meeting falls within the framework of the Canary Islands-Africa Strategy of the Government of the Canary Islands, specifically within its Axis 4, which focuses on education and science. In this context, the meeting allowed for the identification of lines of work for the development of future joint initiatives, including academic and professional mobility programs, specialized training activities, and coordinated participation in international projects.

These potential areas of collaboration would contribute to strengthening academic cooperation and knowledge transfer among the participating institutions, as well as improving training opportunities and promoting joint research and innovation initiatives. During the meeting, draft framework agreements aimed at consolidating institutional relationships and facilitating the implementation of shared projects were also reviewed.

This first meeting laid the groundwork for closer collaboration between the participating institutions and helped to build academic networks that strengthen the role of the Canary Islands as a space for connection between Europe and Africa.
