The University of La Laguna has been awarded the MetaRedS 2026 Recognition Diploma and Commitment Seal. This award, granted by the global network promoted by Universia, recognizes the institution's active involvement in improving the social, environmental and environmental governance impact in the educational field.
The recognition has been granted in recognition of the outstanding participation of the ULL in the international project "International Analysis of the Implementation of Sustainability Policies in Ibero-American Higher Education Institutions", a key initiative managed and promoted by the director of the Sustainability Secretariat, Cintia Hernández.
In a statement signed by Tomás Jiménez, global director of MetaRedS, the organization congratulated the Canary Islands institution, highlighting that this milestone "reflects the university's firm commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.".
A boost to governance and environmental impact
The MetaRedS 2026 Commitment Seal highlights the University of La Laguna's ongoing efforts to align its infrastructure, management, and teaching with the most demanding sustainable development guidelines. By participating in this international analysis, the ULL consolidates its position as a leader in actively contributing to environmental and governance improvements among universities in the Ibero-American region.
This milestone validates the effectiveness of the 2025-2027 Environmental Sustainability Plan, approved by the ULL Governing Council and made available for public review by the entire university community for one month. This strategy has been instrumental in defining the key actions that guide the university's environmental commitment.
The Vice-Rectorate for Sustainability and Infrastructure values this achievement not only as an award for the work carried out, but also as an incentive to continue developing cross-cutting policies that reduce the environmental impact and ecological footprint of the university and promote a culture of social responsibility throughout the university community.
