Institute of Tropical Diseases and Public Health of the Canary Islands<\/a> A first working meeting with representatives of the four Feder partner entities of the project, in which the first decisions were made, such as the adoption of a logo; deciding the date of the celebration of the launch event of the project, which will be at the University of La Laguna; and defining the first actions to be undertaken within this project which in its drafting has three main objectives and, within each of them, three activities.<\/p>\nThose participating in the meeting included Emma Carmelo from the University of La Laguna; Jana Alonso from IPNA; researcher Cristina Gonz\u00e1lez and manager Ana Quintero from FGULL; and Mar\u00eda Valladares from the Finca Espa\u00f1a Laboratory. Also in attendance was a representative of the partners from third countries, Professor Isabel In\u00eas Ara\u00fajo from the University of Cape Verde.<\/p>\n
As Carmelo explains, this European project is the result of close collaboration that several of the partner organizations have maintained for years. Specifically regarding the training of professionals from Cape Verde, several doctoral theses by Cape Verdean graduates have already been completed at the University of La Laguna's institute. \u201cNow, funding has been secured to improve and expand what was already being done, and also to equip the laboratory in Cape Verde. <\/a>This is the first time that an Interreg-MAC call has admitted the participation of private entities as partners, which explains why the fourth entity associated with the project receiving funding is the clinical analysis laboratory. Finca Espa\u00f1a<\/a>, TecnoMac will develop marketable technological products. Additionally, TecnoMac has a group of so-called third-country partners who do not receive funding but collaborate on the work and may be recipients of its results: University of Cape Verde<\/a>, the University of S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe<\/a> and a Cape Verdean bottling company called Tecnicil.<\/p>\n
