These travelers sailed 1,200 kilometers through one of the most inhospitable and spectacular areas on the planet, where various environmental problems due to pollution and climate change are evident. Admission is free until capacity is reached, and invitations can be obtained here. link.

The screening of the short film starring Pedro Millán del Rosario, Julio Pérez González, Antonio López Perera and Vicente Castro, directed and produced by Germán Pinelo, whose subtitle is “Journey to the center of the planet's climate change”, will be followed by a dialogue with the promoters of the expedition that will include the qualified vision of the specialists Aridane González González, from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Javier Hernández Borges, from the University of La Laguna.

The expedition collected samples of water and snow from glaciers and the marine environment for later analysis to determine the quantity and variety of microplastics present. Snow was extracted from glaciers, and water samples were taken along the voyage. Access to the glaciers required hiking and mountaineering, some of which involved significant danger.

This event has been organized by the Cultural Tourism Department of the University of La Laguna in collaboration with the Diario de Avisos Foundation, the documentary's producer, the Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Ecological Transition, Climate Action and Territorial Planning, and the La Gomera Island Council. It will be presented and hosted by journalist María Rozman.

Greenland is the setting for a voyage through icebergs that had to overcome various inclement weather conditions, a landing across glaciers, and risky ascents of challenging mountains. An adventure of discovery and personal growth aboard a sailboat that navigated through fjords, spotting whales and polar bears, and which also incorporated an experience of understanding the environmental problems that exist in this region and seriously affect the rest of the planet.

The large Nordic island of Greenland has a surface area four times that of Spain, yet its resident population is less than 60,000—smaller, for example, than that of the island of La Palma. Approximately 801% of its territory is covered in ice, making it the second largest ice reserve on the planet after Antarctica. Administratively linked to Denmark, Greenland has enjoyed significant autonomy since 1979, further strengthened in 2008 when the Danish government transferred most of its remaining powers to Greenland.

Javier Hernández Borges is a professor at the University of La Laguna, holds a PhD in Chemical Sciences with European distinction, and coordinates the Applied Analytical Chemistry Research Group, specializing in internationally significant research on microplastic pollution. Aridane González González, for his part, is a tenured lecturer at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, holds a PhD in Marine Sciences, and is president of the Canary Islands Scientific Committee for Climate Change, Circular Economy, and Blue Economy. His research focuses on the chemistry of metals and their interaction with the marine environment.

The Paraninfo of the University of La Laguna will host a meeting this Wednesday, March 29th at 8 pm…

[15,6,4574,10
4856,4857,244
post-11958","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-cultura","category-destacado","category-pasaporte-cultural","category-portada-ull","tag-aula-de-turismo-cultural","tag-groenlandia","tag-paraninfo

https://www.ull.es/portal/noticias/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/10/cartel-agenda-groenlandia-300x150.jpg
["GET
