The thirtieth edition of the Adeje Summer University presents <\/span>several training workshops<\/span><\/a>, which will take place from Monday, July 17 to Friday, July 21, and in which very different topics will be addressed, such as emotional management, the role of women in Impressionism, or spirituality and contemplation, among others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop \u201cEmotional Management and Sport\u201d has focused on providing people who work in the sports world and with athletes with tools that allow them to incorporate mental health and the proper management of emotions in the sports field.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop directors, Pablo Jos\u00e9 Borges, PhD in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, and Barbara Macarena Diaz, graduate in Clinical Psychology, have focused on the management and handling of emotions in the sports world. In addition, they have delved into methodological proposals on cooperative challenges and training tasks for addressing emotional management in teaching and learning processes.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the workshop, the topic of burnout syndrome, or professional burnout, was discussed. Burnout is defined as a person's response to an unbearable work situation. "We have detected cases of burnout among athletes in training, which is why we are beginning to work on methodologies that incorporate mental health as part of their training," Borges emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n

This vision of incorporating cognitive and emotional work has been made possible thanks to the fact that elite athletes have also normalized psychological attention as part of the process; in fact, it is as important a part as the physical or tactical preparation of an elite athlete.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Borges believes that the cognitive and mental aspects still need to be normalized; it's necessary to understand that health isn't just physical, but also mental and social. Being one hundred percent well requires mental health. Based on this, the professor insisted that there should be a designated figure in grassroots sports who addresses mental health, especially someone who helps manage frustration when losing, fosters a culture of effort, and so on, which should be as important as the other areas of training.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The role of women in the Impressionist Movement<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Another workshop that has been given at the Adeje Summer University has been <\/span>\u201cThe Ladies of Light: Exploring the Role of Women in the Impressionist Movement,\u201d presented by art historian Ana Victoria Moruno Rodr\u00edguez<\/span><\/p>\n

The aim of the workshop is to highlight the role of women in art history, specifically within the Impressionist movement, as women have historically been largely invisible in the art world. During the workshop, students learned about the Impressionist movement, its artists, and the representation of women within it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The expert referred to the training of women artists in the visual arts. She then presented the main works and characteristics of the movement's most prominent artists, such as Berthe Morisot, Mary Cassatt, Marie Bracquemond, and Eva Gonz\u00e1lez.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the training, the difficulties of female artists in their continuous search for their own space in the art world were addressed, in which they were always represented in their role as mothers but never as painters, which is why Moruno Rodr\u00edguez emphasized the role of women.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the training, the students learned to recognize the distinctive characteristics of women artists' works, including the value they placed on light and color, and their particular interest in capturing the moment before photography could do so. "The workshop has allowed students to discover another, untold part of history. Therefore, it is essential that the art world continues to highlight the role of women artists, their training, and their education in order to understand this Impressionist world," the expert concludes.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
