This Friday, January 17th, marks the sixty-first edition of the local phase of the Spanish Mathematical Olympiad for the university districts of the Canary Islands. For the University of La Laguna district, the competition is taking place in the Mathematics and Physics Department building, with a total of 56 students from 15 secondary schools on the islands of Tenerife and La Palma participating.<\/p>\n
The test consists of solving six math problems in two sessions of three and a half hours each, and is aimed at students enrolled in the current Baccalaureate course and, exceptionally, in the third and fourth year of Compulsory Secondary Education when endorsed by their teachers and they stand out for their abilities.<\/p>\n
The Royal Spanish Mathematical Society will award the three winners from each province with a certificate and an annual student membership fee, which entitles them, among other benefits, to access the magazine "La Gaceta" of the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society for one year.<\/p>\n
Following the competition, a team of three students will be selected to represent the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands in the final phase of the LXI Spanish Mathematical Olympiad, which will be held in Gij\u00f3n between March 27 and 30, 2025.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
