The Rector of the University of La Laguna, Francisco García, expressed his condolences, recalling her remarkable work ethic and empathy with the entire academic community.

Anguera was honored at the University of La Laguna in April 2022, along with jurist Fernández de Buján and chemist and Nobel laureate Barry Sharpless. Carmen Rosa Sánchez López, a tenured professor in the Department of Methodology of Behavioral Sciences, acted as her sponsor at the ceremony, where she highlighted Anguera's passion for teaching and research, which led her to continue working and leading publications until her final days.

«"Teresa was a person who fostered cooperation, agreements, and reconciled disagreements," he recalls. He emphasizes that Anguera was a pioneer of Observational Methodology in Spain, and in fact, thanks to her repeated collaborations with the University of La Laguna, her teaching and expertise have led to several doctoral theses being defended following her line of research.

«"She always offered solutions. She was never heard to embarrass any person or institution," which speaks to her great humanity and enormous empathy for others. "She collaborated with anyone who called her.".

Anguera held degrees in Psychology and Law, with a prolific research career that can be summarized in six six-year research periods and nine teaching periods, the authorship of more than 300 research articles, more than 180 publications and the direction or co-direction of 60 doctoral theses, in addition to numerous awards and management positions.

Sánchez especially valued his contribution to the area of Methodology in Behavioral Sciences through Observational Methodology, "generating a whole theoretical, strategic and technical development for the capture of any type of human behavior in its natural context," he noted in his laudatio.

In her acceptance speech for an honorary doctorate from the University of La Laguna, Anguera addressed an emerging methodological paradigm in the social sciences, and more specifically in the behavioral sciences: the so-called "mixed methods." She explained that this approach requires a "calm and methodical" perspective on aspects that are still developing. To frame the issue, she explained that there are two traditional, opposing approaches: qualitative and quantitative. The speaker positioned herself among the group of experts who reject this dichotomy "because of its radical nature and because it diminishes the quality of the approaches that can be developed.".

«"His passing is a loss that will be deeply felt," lamented Carmen Rosa Sánchez, who also noted that Anguera was a person of enormous intelligence.

Teresa Anguera, Professor Emerita of the University of Barcelona and Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of La Laguna…

[6,59,10

post-1749","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-destacado","category-institucion","category-portada-ull

https://www.ull.es/portal/noticias/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/10/Honoris-Causa-abr22-39-300x200.jpg
["GET
